I’ve been at Cheltenham for the last two days. I’ve got soaked, had a chapped bum, wet feet, spent a fortune on food (and a few beers) and haven’t had a bet on any race at Cheltenham over the two days. However, today I find myself walking away with just under £1,000 from the lovely tote people at The Cheltenham race course! People were wondering why I was shouting so much watching the Irish racing. Little did they know the last leg of a huge payout was jumping the last on the bit at Punchestown.
Firstly before the magic of Saturday. Just one bet during the week with the selection jumping the last upsides but the beast made a terrible error losing all chance (despite trading very short in running) and ended up finishing 2nd in the end but should have been another winner for members.
Now Saturday, the call came very early with the voice at the end of the phone being very bullish over a horse running at Uttoxeter. This does not happen very often but today it did.
The horse was given out as a seven point win bet with the word “Strong” in the text. Clients know when the phone bleeps with message they lump on. Result? There was never a moment’s worry, a brilliant round of jumping and an easy victory for Sullumo (Despite the screens dieing at Cheltenham!). Weekend paid for!
But, that was not the end of the day. Two other horses were also given with a patent bet and treble recommended. Obviously it all started well with Sullomo winning and the other two? WON by 6 lengths and 5 lengths. Treble and Patent bet paid up. A really fantastic day’s business with our wallets very full. Around 30 points profit on the day.
So you maybe wondering why I was at Cheltenham yet didn’t bet? Simple. If you don’t fancy anything the why bet? It’s no fun losing money. With the ground and weather conditions bad this would throw lots of the form and info out of the window. So I decided to keep my wallet in my pocket and just enjoy the betting ring and see the big bets go on.
Looking forward to Sunday, we may be betting at Cheltenham as we have a notebook horse running. Remember so far we have had 4 winners from 6 runners, roughly a 70% strike rate. One was brought down when cantering and the other one we were told not to back due to ground. N.B. One of the horses given today was a notebook winner. We also have a notebook horse running in Eire on Sunday so that makes two.

Breeder's Cup Review

The Breeder’s cup preview was sent out to clients with just two selections at the meeting. Both duly won at good odds and it turned out to be a great night of arm chair viewing and even better when you have two winners, that pays for the takeaway. As I say, it was a great night of racing and if you were following our advice you would have hopefully have been in a similar green to us.

St Nicholas Abbey, a fine winner!

St Nicholas Abbey look’s very special! Indeed we were told (by our yard tipsters) the bet would be like finding money in the street and it was. After sending the bet out 2/1 (to return an SP of 13/8) we were just waiting on the result. To win that race the way it did was quite simply unreal. What a prospect he looks and surely will remain unbeatable. It’s no surprise pretty much all of Sunday’s Racing Post was focusing on him!
This was Saturday’s message:
The main race of the day is no doubt the racing post trophy. A fantastic race with some highly regarded horses will be running in. We backed Coordinated cut on it’s debut last time but that horse has drifted like it’s only got three legs. We have been told though and I Quote: “The reason why pigeons don’t have feathers on there ass in Ireland is because St Nicholas Abbey keeps catching them”. The O’Brien camp think this horse is special and unbeatable. But also Al Zir is thought of been very good. But from what we know St Nicholas Abbey will be like finding money in the street. 3 point win 2-1
If anything, now is not a good time to be a pigeon in Ireland!

Hello again
Just a quick post tonight as members of the BetterTipster service had their first account bet of the week today. The bet was on the first notebook runner of the jumps season. Cross Appeal was the animal who ran at Thurles 3:50. As mentioned in yesterdays post we had a runner and it ran rather well winning at even money backed in from just over 2-1 (that’s the price members took). You can see the racing post comments from the race below:
This was a reasonable contest in all likelihood and the winner, CROSS APPEAL, can only improve. It is certainly doubtful that anything he beat on this occasion will get as close to him in future. He raced just off the pace, gradually crept into the race and got to the front before the last. The way he battled back having been headed was very pleasing. His trainer said afterwards about how green the horse was and how he was not particularly at home on a tight track like this, so this performance is even more meritorious in that light.
We were told all about this horse in a stable visit to Noel Meade’s yard that took place earlier in the month. Noel told us in no uncertain terms this was a very good horse and has a great engine. Quick call was made this morning and we were told to back it even though there were 18 runners in the field. The bets were sent out to members via text and email. Last four bets have all gone in for BetterTipster members including a 7 point win bet and a 6 point win bet (on a scale of one to ten, ten being a max bet).
Thank you Noel but we know plenty more to come inc your best unraced novice. Can’t Wait.
Tipster weekly update. Welcome to the Jumps Season!

Hello,
I hope you are enjoying the new BetterTipster blog (Blog of a better tipster). The blog is still in it’s early development and we have many ideas of where we want to go with it but these things do take a bit of time, a bit like our account bets. We make sure everything is 100% ready before we play our cards so that we have 100% faith in our racing tips .
The jump season is starting to take off now and thank goodness I say! Apart from see the stars what else has the flat season had to offer? Maybe it’s just me who prefers the jumping game, but if you compare the likes of Cheltenham to Ascot only one winner and it’s a clear one in my opinion.
As mentioned before, the betting on the flat and finding winners is not easy. We get some great info and had some lovely results like our 16-1 antepost bet on Sariska in the Oaks. But so many things can go wrong. You can have the best racing information, stable whispers or whatever you want to call it, but if your horse misses the break gets boxed in or comes in to bloody season you lose before you start.
I think the jumping game is more fair on us punters you either win lose or fall, no real hard luck stories. Also so many more horses to really get behind and more house hold names the likes of Kauto vs Denman, past greats Red Rum, Desert Orchard (who I actually sat on!) and the site of a horse winning on the bit with the jockey looking over his shoulder coming to the last, so many more positives and horses to really get behind.
This week has been quiet on our punting with no account bets as yet. Last week was the same but come Saturday we had 2 account bets and two winners including one very strong 6 point win bet! The better horses are starting to come, again this weekend see’s some lovely jump racing to get stuck into. We do have a notebook horse though running Thursday from the Noel Meade yard all our members will be given the nod if we are betting one this beast.
The next update on this blog will be either Friday or over the weekend as all attentions are now focused on gathering info for the weekend.
