We had a small setback yesterday when losing 4 points but we managed to get it all back today and more. We are now in profit for the week. There aren’t many bad days with BetterTipster but yesterday was one of them; both selections ran poorly. In this game patience and determination are required to make a profit in the long term.

We placed a solid bet on our notebook horse, Royal Charm, at odds that represented great value. The horse won despite conditions at the course going against us late in the day. The going was very sticky which made it a good test but Royal Charm, under a great ride from jockey Daryl Jacob, showed how good he can perform when it matters. The horse is a top class performer despite being considered weak by Paul Nicholls. It is doubtful that we will see him seen at Cheltenham.

Another top class horse, Wymott from our notebook, was also seen winning today. He will be running at Cheltenham where he will take some beating. We also advised clients to keep on eye-out for our ‘Just Info’ horse Mac Aeda who again travelled very well but never stood a real chance because of the ground.

For the first ever on this service, after 15 months, today we were given false information. There is no point in trying to cover it up.

The ride and the drift before the off on Mac Aeda was truly disgusting, I don’t think I have ever been as angry watching a horse race. I can’t begin to tell you how highly this horse is rated by connections . The horse was backed in to 5/4 / 11/10 in places an hour before the race, but then the drift started and the horse eventually went off at 11/4. Mac Aeda was ridden handy in 3rd postion.

At three out everything was been ridden except Mac Aeda who was swinging away on the bit and eased into the lead with the jockey looking behind him. The odds on Betfair hit very short, I could have greened up for a profit of just under £300 but I let it run because it looked like the horse would win with any amount in hand.

At two out the horse made a slight mistake, but was still not being asked to finish. The other horses went past it but there was still no push. After jumping the last, the jockey started with hands and heels and the horse flew closing down all the way to the line but without being ridden with any force.

Even the commentator on ATR could not believe what he saw. Then the emails started coming in and many of those on the Betfair forum shared my anger. The trainer and jockey were called to the stewards room and quite rightly so. I am unsure of the outcome but they should have the book thrown at them for this.

The below is taken from the racingpost website:

Mac Aeda, a notable drifter in the market, travelled well into the home straight but clouted the second last and lost some valuable momentum. He got back into his stride afterwards but was not given a hard time. His jockey later reported to the stewards that his mount was not suited by the soft ground, and while it is likely that he will be better on faster ground, he might have finished in a place this time if ridden right out.

I’ll start of by having a quick review of yesterday. Blue Nymph was on the bounce after its recent win in stronger competition, but unfortunately didn’t perform to its full potential.

The tactics did not work out for Mocho who dropped down from three miles. They told AP to make all and leave the rest of the field in the dust. However, due to some bad errors the horse faded at two out. I am still not entirely sure why the trainers employed these tactics.

Mac Aeda won all the way round, bar the damn line! Unfortunately we were gubbed at the finish when the horse was trading at tiny odds. It was a good run as the horse pulled hard all the way and appeared very fresh. He gave the winner 19lbs in weight, which of course is a good indication of how he could be over the hurdles. If the horse had held on it would have been fine and we’d have got our money back on the day, but it was not to be.

One account bet today to finish off a really busy week. Mac Aeda winning as we were told he would. An easy steering job and at a great price of 3/1 just before the off on Betfair, and an SP of 9/4.

Our contact was told about this one yesterday and as mentioned in last nights email “bumper steering job”. Horse did the job very easy and was a class above the field, winning easily. Still classed as weak by his trainer, one for the notebook. A 4 point win was advised so a nice result.

There were 4 account bets this week, two winners, both at 3/1 and two losers. So another winning week but could of been much better.
