Our selection, Air Force One, unfortuntely broke down early-on in the race; a long-term injury from the past bled caused the horse to go lame.

It’s more than likely the horse will now be found a new home as it can no longer handle the pressure of racing. It’s a huge shame as Charlie Mann and the owners have been ever so patient with the horse whilst owners kept paying the bills for a year or so without getting any runs. His work last week at Kempton got everybody at the yard buzzing but it was not to be. As we mentioned yesterday, the bet was risky but with the mark the horse was running off and work at Kempton the previous week Air Force One had to be backed.

On a more positive note the just info did a bit better with a 5/1 winner in Slumber who did make all. Red Cadeaux again worked very well over in Melbourne yesterday; jockey Michael Rodd is growing more positive each day. We need the rain to keep coming down. It was interesting to watch Matt Chapman put him up as his selection for the race on ATR yesterday. An Aussie guy who was interviewed also liked the horse; keep everything crossed.

Rocket Man did the business for us, winning nicely; the horse showed fantastic pace from the off getting up on the outside from stall nine. He then continued to power through the competitors for a comfortable win when close home. It’s nice to see our first flat antepost bet of the season winning; let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come.

The Dubai World Cup race was, once again, a bit of a farce. The richest race in the world, with a purse that makes the Grand National look like spare change, ran for the majority at a hack canter. But, I have a theory; if we all club in and raise around £4,000 I think we can win the Dubai World Cup next year. That’s because it all seems quite easy as all you need is a horse that can run flat out for a mile, make good headway and go eight lengths clear and then kick for home on the turn. Races at Lingfield & Kempton are won in faster times than yesterday’s race.

Fair play to the winning jockey who rode a blinder; he was plum last but realised he would get caught out when the race developed into a sprint, so he went from last to first after a few furlongs and stole the race with a great ride. Our bet, Gitano Hernando, ran a reasonable race but the lack of pace gave us no chance as we mentioned in the email. We were only beaten a length into 6th. Johnny Murtagh gave the horse a good ride. He was out of the stall quickly and racing handily as we were informed he would. He then tried to kick early on the bend. Unfortunately Gitano Hernando takes 30 seconds or so to hit top gear and so whilst he was closing in the final part of the race, the lack of pace messed it up for us. It’s a shame this race will not see the amazing performances of Cigar and co, like the racing post rightly says. I suppose the only times we will see that type of race is the Kentucky Derby meeting.

Today had our first bet of the week which we place on Morar who ran at Kempton. However, whilst Morar did run, the horse ran a shocker and there’s no escaping that fact. After the race I spoke with our contact at the track and as far as we can gather, since the jockey returned his comments are that the horse just stopped immediately in the home straight and except from that could not offer an explanation.

Morar broke well and was travelling consistently well and despite not having much cover, there was no pulling during the race. On the turn for home I was assured of Morar’s chance to go on and win the race, but the response was nonexistent and Morar virtually walked over the line pulled up.

We backed Morar at 16/1 and this was followed by heavy support in the betting markets all afternoon. The eventual SP was 9/1 and it can’t be denied that we still had a good value bet in our hands. The most frustrating thing was that Phoenix Flight won the race at 9/1; this is a horse that Morar beat easily last time. A simple reproduction of that previous effort would likely have secured the race. We’re expecting more information tomorrow from connections concerning what happened to cause such an uneventful race.

How cold was December? Unless you are reading from a tropical country, you will understand why this really messed up the racing on what should have been a busy month. Regardless, we worked tirelessly and members did make a profit of four points. That said, it should have been so much better! We placed two antepost bets, the first of which was in the King George and the second in the Christmas Hurdle. Both races were lost to the weather but the King George has been rescheduled and our bet still looks promising. Stakes were refunded on the Christmas hurdle.

I mentioned how December should have been so much better despite the lack of racing taking place. If you happened to read the blog you will remember that clients were advised to back Presenting Forever on the 21st of October. It was mentioned in a previous post to keep an eye on this horse and I hope you did. On the 10th of December Presenting Forever ran in a top class Cheltenham race at odds of 20/1.

We had the message to get on again, and did so. Presenting Forever ran a massive race jumping the last, going four lengths clear and traded at 1.03 on Betfair. Unfortunately in the last 50 yards he got collared on the line. A huge payout was so nearly won but 5/1 E/W money was collected.

We placed few other bets including a very strong selection, Royal Charm, that won and an E/W double that we lost.

So, now the bit you are waiting for, the final 2010 results summary:

In total we finished 146 points in profit to 1 point level stakes (more profit was achieved to advised stakes).

We are really pleased with the points total for a service that has now been going for two years. At all points through the two years of operation we have been trying to make new contacts and are investing in other areas of the service all of the time. You can’t afford to stand still in this game and we have no intention of doing so!

There are 100′s of tipping services on the net, many make a loss, some make a profit, but we do believe nobody works harder than us in trying to make you money. Please remember we make our living doing this so if you lose, so do we! Also we are always at the other end of the phone if members ever have any questions.

£1 on all of our selections throughout the year would of won you £146

£10 on all of the selections would of paid £1460 profit.

£25 on every selection would equal £3650 and finally

£50 on all account bets would have paid a tax free income of £7300

All of our bets are proofed and we include proof of our own bets (where possible) to show the integrity of the service.

The target is now firmly set and 200 points profit for 2011.

Thank you very much for all the support during the year and we wish you all a great 2011.

Cold Snap (& Haydock…… "DOH!").

The quiet times at BetterTipster continue with no bets due to poor racing and the loss of major meetings.

My worst fears came true on Friday with the loss of Ascot. I was really looking forward to the meeting as we had a big bet lined.  I hope Boxing Day is not going to be a wipe out. It’s always a great day with over ten meetings. I was pleased to see Kempton with the covers down for boxing day as it just won’t be the same without the King George.

Haydock really did it’s self no favours again with the meeting on at 8am, then thirty minutes before the first race the meeting gets called off. Surely if there was any danger of the meeting not going ahead the fixture should be called off the day before! Don’t forget that this is the course that over watered earlier in the year and a certain high profile trainer refuses to run his horses at the track. Far too much time and money is wasted on travel and fuel for both the trainers and general public!

Did you see the comment from trainer James Ewart? If not see below:

He said: “It was -8C in the stable block last night and the clerk of the course said it didn’t go below -4, which sadly wasn’t true. How can they inspect at 8am when they don’t pull the covers up. It’s a lack of respect for horses and people working in racing. Haydock doesn’t mind – they’ll have another meeting, but it’s absolutely ridiculous – there was no chance.”

Sums it all up really; me thinks that Haydock needs to get it’s act together.

With no official betting tips a positive was given today for Newcastle to beat Middlesbrough @ 4/5. This price seemed for too good and I had considered it to be 4/6 or shorter. You can see in the below screen shot that we took advantage of our keen eye for percentages for a green-book of £175.65. It’s always nice to have a live game on normal TV Sunday lunch time.
