Sullumo makes us Smile! + Treble Top Jackpot.

I’ve been at Cheltenham for the last two days. I’ve got soaked, had a chapped bum, wet feet, spent a fortune on food (and a few beers) and haven’t had a bet on any race at Cheltenham over the two days. However, today I find myself walking away with just under £1,000 from the lovely tote people at The Cheltenham race course! People were wondering why I was shouting so much watching the Irish racing. Little did they know the last leg of a huge payout was jumping the last on the bit at Punchestown.
Firstly before the magic of Saturday. Just one bet during the week with the selection jumping the last upsides but the beast made a terrible error losing all chance (despite trading very short in running) and ended up finishing 2nd in the end but should have been another winner for members.
Now Saturday, the call came very early with the voice at the end of the phone being very bullish over a horse running at Uttoxeter. This does not happen very often but today it did.
The horse was given out as a seven point win bet with the word “Strong” in the text. Clients know when the phone bleeps with message they lump on. Result? There was never a moment’s worry, a brilliant round of jumping and an easy victory for Sullumo (Despite the screens dieing at Cheltenham!). Weekend paid for!
But, that was not the end of the day. Two other horses were also given with a patent bet and treble recommended. Obviously it all started well with Sullomo winning and the other two? WON by 6 lengths and 5 lengths. Treble and Patent bet paid up. A really fantastic day’s business with our wallets very full. Around 30 points profit on the day.
So you maybe wondering why I was at Cheltenham yet didn’t bet? Simple. If you don’t fancy anything the why bet? It’s no fun losing money. With the ground and weather conditions bad this would throw lots of the form and info out of the window. So I decided to keep my wallet in my pocket and just enjoy the betting ring and see the big bets go on.
Looking forward to Sunday, we may be betting at Cheltenham as we have a notebook horse running. Remember so far we have had 4 winners from 6 runners, roughly a 70% strike rate. One was brought down when cantering and the other one we were told not to back due to ground. N.B. One of the horses given today was a notebook winner. We also have a notebook horse running in Eire on Sunday so that makes two.

04/10/2009 – Bettertipster Update!

Hi and welcome back to the BetterTipster blog.
So what did we learn from the weekend? Well the Charlie Hall chase is no longer a Gold cup trial that is for sure with a very poor 5 runners. The whole card was offering decent prize money but each race had only a handful of runners. The whispers were that many trainers are avoiding the track due to the ground and the tragic number of horses losing their life’s at Wetherby. I have been to Wetherby and found it very welcoming and would not put anybody off but if trainers feel the track is unsafe, I fear for the future high profile races taking place at Wetherby. Let’s hope they keep everybody happy as racing needs big races for racing fans up north.
So how have BetterTipster members got on since our last post? Well I can tell you this tipster has only given two bets. We had one selection Saturday advised at 13/8 backed in to 11/10 Fav but finished 2nd. The bet was advised as a 3 points win. 1 point is our minimum and 10 our max for account bets. So not too much damage done, but a loser it was and we don’t like them.
But today, Tuesday, we had our first ever Maximum bet runner since the tipster service started in January. As you can see we don’t put this type of bet up any old time. But it was a huge 10 point win max bet with instructions to clients that the horse only has to jump round. Result? WON by 6 lengths hard held!
The just info horses also keep going in with just one horse given Monday, won by any distance and today a 2nd at 5/1 jumped the last in front. We also learnt of a bumper horse today due to run this week. Connection’s gave the message ‘wins by ten lengths’ and think it could go to Cheltenham! The horse is trained by a smaller yard that most so let’s the price hope will be great.
We did have a couple of notebook horses that were due to go last weekend, but the meeting in Eire was called off due to heavy rain. So record remains 100% 2 out of 2. The Breeders cup meeting takes place this weekend a must view meeting. I have promised myself I will go to this meeting one day. A full preview of the main races will be passed on to members.

£500 Win
St Nicholas Abbey, a fine winner!

St Nicholas Abbey look’s very special! Indeed we were told (by our yard tipsters) the bet would be like finding money in the street and it was. After sending the bet out 2/1 (to return an SP of 13/8) we were just waiting on the result. To win that race the way it did was quite simply unreal. What a prospect he looks and surely will remain unbeatable. It’s no surprise pretty much all of Sunday’s Racing Post was focusing on him!
This was Saturday’s message:
The main race of the day is no doubt the racing post trophy. A fantastic race with some highly regarded horses will be running in. We backed Coordinated cut on it’s debut last time but that horse has drifted like it’s only got three legs. We have been told though and I Quote: “The reason why pigeons don’t have feathers on there ass in Ireland is because St Nicholas Abbey keeps catching them”. The O’Brien camp think this horse is special and unbeatable. But also Al Zir is thought of been very good. But from what we know St Nicholas Abbey will be like finding money in the street. 3 point win 2-1
If anything, now is not a good time to be a pigeon in Ireland!
Tipster report. Four on the trot.

Hello again
Just a quick post tonight as members of the BetterTipster service had their first account bet of the week today. The bet was on the first notebook runner of the jumps season. Cross Appeal was the animal who ran at Thurles 3:50. As mentioned in yesterdays post we had a runner and it ran rather well winning at even money backed in from just over 2-1 (that’s the price members took). You can see the racing post comments from the race below:
This was a reasonable contest in all likelihood and the winner, CROSS APPEAL, can only improve. It is certainly doubtful that anything he beat on this occasion will get as close to him in future. He raced just off the pace, gradually crept into the race and got to the front before the last. The way he battled back having been headed was very pleasing. His trainer said afterwards about how green the horse was and how he was not particularly at home on a tight track like this, so this performance is even more meritorious in that light.
We were told all about this horse in a stable visit to Noel Meade’s yard that took place earlier in the month. Noel told us in no uncertain terms this was a very good horse and has a great engine. Quick call was made this morning and we were told to back it even though there were 18 runners in the field. The bets were sent out to members via text and email. Last four bets have all gone in for BetterTipster members including a 7 point win bet and a 6 point win bet (on a scale of one to ten, ten being a max bet).
Thank you Noel but we know plenty more to come inc your best unraced novice. Can’t Wait.
