Rocket Man did the business for us, winning nicely; the horse showed fantastic pace from the off getting up on the outside from stall nine. He then continued to power through the competitors for a comfortable win when close home. It’s nice to see our first flat antepost bet of the season winning; let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come.
The Dubai World Cup race was, once again, a bit of a farce. The richest race in the world, with a purse that makes the Grand National look like spare change, ran for the majority at a hack canter. But, I have a theory; if we all club in and raise around £4,000 I think we can win the Dubai World Cup next year. That’s because it all seems quite easy as all you need is a horse that can run flat out for a mile, make good headway and go eight lengths clear and then kick for home on the turn. Races at Lingfield & Kempton are won in faster times than yesterday’s race.
Fair play to the winning jockey who rode a blinder; he was plum last but realised he would get caught out when the race developed into a sprint, so he went from last to first after a few furlongs and stole the race with a great ride. Our bet, Gitano Hernando, ran a reasonable race but the lack of pace gave us no chance as we mentioned in the email. We were only beaten a length into 6th. Johnny Murtagh gave the horse a good ride. He was out of the stall quickly and racing handily as we were informed he would. He then tried to kick early on the bend. Unfortunately Gitano Hernando takes 30 seconds or so to hit top gear and so whilst he was closing in the final part of the race, the lack of pace messed it up for us. It’s a shame this race will not see the amazing performances of Cigar and co, like the racing post rightly says. I suppose the only times we will see that type of race is the Kentucky Derby meeting.

We placed two bets yesterday, but Major Eradicator was pulled out when trading at 4/1. The horse was pulled out on the advice of a veterinarian. We will have to save this one for another day.
Our other bet, Reachtothestars, did run and finished second so a very small profit was returned there. The jockey was making all and the horse ran a solid race despite pulling a bit hard in front. I don’t think it would have made much difference. We’re happy with the information received and bet so have no excuses.

Unfortunately we couldn’t go out with a bang on the last day of the Festival. Our only bet, Shoreacres, found things happening too quickly. We backed Shoreacres on Friday at 9/1 after a solid word from the trainer. With the rain that was due in the forecast it all looked good. Our bet was heavily backed on Friday and sent off at an SP of 6/1 after hitting fives during the day. Unfortunately the rain missed Cheltenham, as it often does, and along with a face that was run too quickly for our selection, a few errors put pain to any potential winner.
We’re delighted with our Cheltenham results. Though we haven’t finalized our numbers yet, we believe that the profit stands at around 30pts. Making any profit at the Festival is always great and this keeps our 100% profitable record at the meeting.
Our Cheltenham preview document also included ‘Just Info’ horses. Sir Des Champs was one of these and won yesterday at 9/2 after being backed in from 7/1 when mentioned. As for the other horses listed, yesterday Captain Knock got done in a very tight photo at 7/1. It’s also a big shame that Imperial Commander went lame during the Gold Cup after breaking a blood vessel. He was going really well on the outside and we believe that it would have been a great finish seeing all four come up the hill, but unfortunately fate had a different idea.
Thanks for all the kind words we have received by both email and phone. We hope you had a great Cheltenham and enjoyed been part of our service.

Today was another good day; Big Bucks bringing home another five points for us. The other jockeys tried everything that they could in order to get Big Bucks beaten going a really slow pace. Big Bucks did it the hard way just about making all.
I knew when he was jumping the last that our money was safe as nothing passes Big Bucks on the run in. He just does enough each time. In fairness Grand Crus ran well, but he never looked like beating our selection. Big Bucks was the short priced cert of the meeting, just like last year and the year before that.
The day was made even better following the success of our ‘Just Info’. From what I can tell at this early stage, plenty of you had a good bet on Plato who landed a nice touch for the Henry Cecil yard. I could not account bet this horse with it being the amateur that it is, but Lorna Fowler gave the horse a great ride, hands and heels, getting the job done nicely.
Junior also landed a huge gamble for the Pipe yard; 6/1 into 100/30 and won by half the track. Kalahari King finished second, maybe given a bit too much to do, but with Bensalem winning our money was returned on the Lucky 15.
We are also really pleased that some members have won good money from the multiple bets. If you had Sizing Europe, Big Bucks, Bensalem & Peddlers Cross then well done! All our antepost bets have now run, so at this moment in time we just have the one bet left that was sent this afternoon.

Today was a great day for with a cracking profit made around 26pts.
This was always going to be a big day for us with five bets running. Thankfully it worked out well in the end.
The day started well with So Young finishing 3rd for a very small profit. This does not tell the whole story though, as Ruby Walsh rode a stinker. He gets all the praise on Tuesday, but nobody says anything about this effort today. The horse was eight lengths behind when jumping three out. Ruby is cantering on the horse whilst the leaders are going away. Finally, two out, he decides to make headway and So Young makes ground up with ease. That said, it was no easy going; Ruby had to barge his way through and met the last sideways on, royally fluffing it in the process. I can only think Ruby thought he was on a machine. A rare and unfortunate poor ride from a top jumps jockey.
We never got a run with the Giant Bolster who fell early in the race, 3rd fence if I remember correctly. I feel really bad for connections.
We also had Sizing Europe on the cards who bolted up at 10/1, landing us a great bet. Never out of the front two, jumping like a stag, he was brilliant. Just like last year’s Arkle victory, below are the comments we made on him:
I’ve no idea why they tried this horse over three miles, it was certainly a bizarre decision. Remember his solid victory in last year’s Arkle, on drying ground, where he jumped like a stag? Master Minded will not like a drying surface, nor will Big Zeb who won this race last year. When running left-handed tracks, Sizing Europe’s form reads 2113110511. We feel it’s suitable to ignore his last four runs as they have been on right-handed tracks. He’s now back to his optimum trip and where he should show some sound quick jumping. As a result we feel that he is excellent E/W value.
Why they ever tried going three miles with him is beyond me. Sizing Europe is a top class two miler on a left-handed track. I can’t believe he hasn’t run on a left-handed course since last year’s Arkle victory. Today was his first time back. There was never really a moment’s worry as he was running against a field where Master Minded would not take to the ground and is not the horse he was.
Then we had Aegean Dawn running for us. Despite making good headway from the rear he faded two out whilst in 3rd. I’m not sure why he was held up so much; these were different tactics and did not work. You must be handy at Cheltenham over trips of two miles five and under. Maybe there was a problem with him before the weekend, but we take everything Mr Henderson says with a pinch of salt.
Finally, Go All The Way ran in the bumper. We backed this horse last night at 33/1. We knew that there would be money for this horse and we weren’t wrong with him returning 16/1. Go All The Way ran really well and still looked green in the early parts of the race, but he stayed on up the hill and grabbed 4th meaning an 8/1 place winner for us. We’re really pleased with this piece of information as they kept this very quiet and it proved spot on.
