We backed Invincible Dream to minimum stakes, 1pt E/W, who finished 4th. The horse was fancied to go well after running a good race on his debut. Invincible Dream came out of the stall ok and was travelling handily just behind the leaders; things seemed to be going well enough.
From three out the horse had to be given a shake of the reigns after changing his legs and losing a few lengths. He soon came back on-the-bit when jockey Tom Queally gave him a nudge. At a furlong out we were still in a decent position and when the leaders went for home Invincible Dream moved into 3rd briefly but could not quicken and as a result stayed on at the same pace until the finish; losing 3rd close to home.
We have already spoken with connections who informed us that the jockey thought the horse ran flat and would prefer more cut in the ground as he tends to hit the ground quite hard. A losing bet for us, and for the connections who had a few quid on. We got a bit of value at 9/1 as the SP was 13/2
This brings the month of June to an end. It’s a bit of a shame that we gave a few points back with our last bet, but the bigger picture is that we won over 50pts and still have won every single month this year.

Another cracking day for us with Dominant winning at 13/2 with any amount in hand.
Dominant broke really well from the stalls; jockey Neil Callan had to take a good pull as the horse needs holding at the start. We were running in 3rd until about two out when Neil Callan angled Dominant towards some daylight; the response was immediate with the horse putting the race to bed in a matter of strides.
We won by 6 lengths in the end in a time well under the norm. Considering today’s ground it was a very special & smart performance indeed; Dominant looks a group class horse with the correct conditions.
This was great work from our main info contact who was at Newmarket; a big thanks to Roger who always speaks with us when we bump into him. Really pleased for Roger Varian who is in his first season as a trainer since taking over from Mr Jarvis.
Our other bet was Overturn who ran a solid race but only managed to finish 6th in the end. We looked the winner at two out; the horse was running well whilst all other runners were in trouble. Unfortunately Overturn faded in the final furlong; I think the ground was just that bit too soft for him as he could never quite get away from the field like he did at Chester.
No matter though as Dominant won us another 5pts. June 2011 has been one of the most successful months that we’ve had since the service commenced in January 2009.

Today turned out nicely; Society Rock winning at 25/1, I guess that will do.
For the first time this year we looked like making a loss at a major meeting as we went into the last day of Royal Ascot 5pts down. Shumoos was our major bet of the meeting who failed by a whisker to land us a nice profit after we took a good price on him the day before. We also had a 10/1 3rd and a 6/1 E/W 3rd as well as two losers. We were close to a nice profit but things did not go quite as well as we would have liked.
Saturday came with two bets, one on Society Rock who we backed antepost. First up though was Fort Bastion who we backed at 6/1 and who eventually went off at 9/2 after plenty of strong support. The horse ran a cracker but met a stronger opponent, Maybe, who looks a good filly. We finished 2nd, well clear of the 3rd and placed horses. Take Maybe out of the race and we would have won easily. The E/W part of the bet was a winner and small profit was made.
Next up was Society Rock who we advised antepost the week before Ascot. With soft ground and a poor draw our confidence was not high going into the race. What we did know was that the horse was back to last seasons form and doing some cracking work on the gallops. Society Rock was also a proven group performer, finishing 2nd in this race last year.
The race itself did not start well; we jumped out slow and then got into a barging match with two other horses and a few words were exchanged between jockeys. Pat Cosgrove did find a nice slot and made sure that we did not get far back of the main leaders; it was vital we had pace on our side of the draw.
At two out we were going well and things started to look up, but we needed the gap. We’re not sure why the horse was trading at 419/1 on Betfair. The gap appeared and Pat gave his all when going for home; forcing Society Rock through a small gap and quickening well before hitting the front and going away at the finish.
It was a fantastic result that was the result of a fantastic ride and a heart-stopping race. This meant that we landed a huge 25/1 bet with some clients getting 33/1 & 28/1.
We finished the meeting with a profit of 26pts. This maintains our record of winning at all the major meetings this year. Before Ascot we had a great Epsom meeting, 17pts up, but this really puts the icing on the cake for the month of June with over 40 points profit.

Aim To Prosper ran a fair race, nothing more. We were banking on the majority of the runners not getting the trip on the soft ground but as it turned out there were no real problems for them. Aim To Prosper was in 2nd place for a good part of the race. On the turn for home Ryan did try and kick on and we did draw level with the leader. Unfortunately Aim To Prosper just kept on galloping and could not really quicken. We stayed on all the way to the line but at the same pace. It seems that we got it wrong with Fame and Glory.
The meeting is turning into bit of a farce with the draw. Take Bapak Chinta as an example, who was drawn in stall two. This is the horse we were going to be with for the past week but the race was not priced up. The results of the two previous days showed it was impossible to win from a low draw in the big fields. Everything drawn low was finishing lengths behind and appeared to have no chance of winning.
As the gates opened I could not believe what I was seeing as the whole field, even the high numbers, tracked across to the other side where Bapak Chinta was drawn! I can’t understand why the jockeys did this. It hasn’t happened at all this wekk so why now? Bapak Chinta made all and won at 6/1. Unfortunatey we didn’t have a penny on.

I’ll start with Super Say who had a poor draw. In the end the draw did not matter as the horse was virtually pulled up and walked back into the enclosure. Super Say was severely dehydrated and had to be treated by the vet. We got zero run for our money on this one and it’s hard ot understand how and why a horse can become dehydrated at such a top class race meeting. I can only assume that the connections did not give it enough water or the horse did not travel over well. Either way, it was disappointing losing like that.
Next was Shumoos who was backed into 6/5 before the off; it appeared as if defeat was next to impossible. I’m sure you have watched the race by now. If you haven’t I’ll quickly explain what happened. We basically lost out by the width of a cigarette paper. The race was lost at two out when Shumoos hit a flat spot in the rising ground. After this flat spot it appeared to take her five strides to find her feet. The winner of the race had gone for home just as we hit the flat spot. Shumoos made up 3 to 4 lengths very quickly but could not quite get her head in front on the line.
Martin Dwyer felt after the race he lost a couple of lengths coming out of the stalls as he had to cross the track and also felt she would be much better over six furlongs. If taking into account losing a couple of lengths from the draw, Shummos would have won the race and definitely would have won if not for hitting the flat spot on the rising ground. Trainer Brian Meehan was gutted as he really thought she would not be beaten. A whisker was the difference between us landing a nice bet and a solid profit.
All was not lost though as we still had Winter’s Night running in the lucky last. The horse looked like the winner at a furlong out, cantering away on-the-bit, but Winter’s Night did not pick up when asked. I would have liked the jockey to go for home when travelling like this but she ran well and finished 3rd so we made a bit on the E/W part of the bet.
