Today was a good day for us with Big Bucks landing one of our strongest bets of the year (7pts win at 1/2)! There was never really any worries, Big Bucks only just does enough and always gets a shake of the reigns during the race but never looked in danger at any point. If the horse remains over the hurdles I don’t think he will be getting beaten any time soon.
It was good to see Sam Thomas bring home What A Friend in front after this was recommended as the most likely winner. Money Trix, who finished second at 14/1, is also one of our notebook horses. Well done to those members that took advantage of the forecast!
The screen shot below shows £1,400 win.

We had one bet yesterday, advised as a strong one on the notebook horse Mille Chief. It was 2nd time lucky for us and the horse won nicely at 8/11 (5pts win advised), the Betfair SP was 1.8.
The two horses were neck and neck jumping the last but (as we thought) the weight difference showed up the extra class that this horse has. For Mille Chief to win this race going clear at the end against a really useful horse in the form of Westlin’ Winds shows you why Alan rates this beast so highly.

We had some bad luck yesterday, mainly in the form of Imperial Commander. His chances disappeared after the 2nd fence. The horse did not get high enough and it was a miracle that Paddy Brennan stayed on. After this incident the jockey just let Imperial Commander hack round for a blow out. This also resulted in Kauto Star’s price not moving in running as the main danger was out of the race. You have to take your hat off to Kauto Star’s amazing performance.
Praesepe was the gamble of the day. We were on at 13/8 and the horse was backed in to 11/10 on course, yet again members were on the back of a huge gamble. Praesepe broke quite slowly and lost it’s good draw. After running very green around the bend, the penny dropped in the back straight. The horse was flying home and catching the winner with every step but the post came too early. This is always the risk with first time out horses, but the info was strong and this was reflected in the weight of money. If the race was run again today with the same horses Prasepe would win easily with that run under his belt.
Long Run won for us at 6/4. This horse looks like a machine and it shows how highly the trainer rates this horse. It will no doubt go to the very top!

We had two account bets today and came out with a profit.
Magnifico did not give his running at all. The horse makes all (as normal) but today hit a flat spot around 4 out and despite trying his best didn’t produce. We have since heard that Magnifico came back really tired, it is possible that the run came too quick. It is always a shame to have a bad run, especially when connections were quite positive on this one.
Sircozy completed a hat trick of wins despite the race not being ran as to his liking. After running at a very slow pace it only took a matter of time for Sircozy to go from last to first.
Two points lost on Magnifico, but just over 2 point won on Sircozy. A small profit made at the end of the day.

I was disappointed today with Noble Alan. We met an improving horse and had to give away a stone in weight never-the-less this horse is thought of been Cheltenham material. I appeared that the jockey gave him a bit to do. He was cantering round the course giving the leader (and winner) at least ten lengths. The horse only made a move at two out where the horse quickly made up the ground but no doubt used up too much energy in the process. After going neck and neck over the last we were just beaten to first place.
Off level weights Noble Alan would have won easily but I do think this horse should have won this race. Below are the comments from the Racing Post:
Noble Alan took an early fall on his previous outing at Aintree and that showed as he wasn’t fluent early on here. Being ridden on the inside may not have helped on that front, though, and he got better as the race went on. He was produced with his chance in the home straight and looked a big threat to the winner, but his response when asked for maximum effort was only one paced. He was conceding plenty of weight to an improving mare and shouldn’t be judged too harshly, but he doesn’t look like being one for the faint-hearted over fences this term.
