I have made the decision not to put up any more bets on 1st time out 2 year olds as the risk is too great. This has now cost three times in the last couple of weeks. There was plenty of money for the Thousandkissesdeep and the owners had £700 on at the track. This is no good for us though as it’s our money concerned and nobody elses.

This has been a tough week and it continued yesterday with the Irish horse when, for the 3rd time running, it finished 2nd. The exact same thing happened, as last three bets, we got the hot pot jolly beat but got done by a complete outsider that just had no chance on form. The Irish contact is gutted. The horse was backed in late so a lay opportunity was there. The SP returned at 6-4. It was very frustrating as Saadijah was in front with 50 yards to go. I have just done a count on the horses that have finished 2nd and we have had 6 in the last three weeks!

Three bets yesterday with one winner. Treble Jig won at even money for us, the horse was backed all day long and returned an SP of 10/11. I was really rushed yesterday and could not look at any of the horses before hand. In hindsight should have just tipped Treble Jig who, according to our contact, was the strongest of the three.

Qaraaba ran ok and finished 3rd. I don’t know what goes on with the Mark Johnston horses. It seems every time I put one of his up it runs a stinker. We do get some really good info from this yard. When I put one up it gets beat so I back off and the horses then win, but we don’t bet. Just can’t get it right.

Yesterday Corsica for whatever reason tried to make all, bizzare if you ask me. The horse finished 2nd first time out to John Gosden’s best two year old and only just got beat. Yesterday the horse just could not win trying to make all. Makes you wonder if it was required to win but the owners were on.

It is a big disappointment to say Sharaayeen got beat. I can’t even begin to tell you how much money and confidence was behind this selection. The horse is thought to be a real super star  and is already entered in the Derby. We were told by the trainer and jockey a while ago about this horse. It has been working well on the gallops with the stable stars and is already beating them even as a two year old.

We asked about the horse running green and we were told the horse just pulls away when asked at home. Today the pace quickened and the horse just did not know what to do and did not quicken. Eventually the penny dropped and it came home fast but all too late. We were at the track and connections could not believe it was beat. Personally I had £600 win and £300 place.
This was small fry compaired to the money that went on from the stable.

Huroof did not win for us today. It was given a strange ride from the front when it’s previous run was more conservative. This horse really should have beaten this field, the owners had backed the horse and we were told it would win. The Jockey did the same thing later in the day on a 4-9 shot; rode the horse out of the stall to lead but again used to much energy up and blew it. I Really can’t understand why these tactics were employed today.

Hopefully you did lay off as suggested. This was first time I suggested this. Basically this was done because we were told the horse would be a big mover and just before the race it traded at 11-10 on betfair before drifting out slightly before the off. I laid the stake off at 11-10, I hope you did the same. Saying that though the ride was dissapointing, still only beaten a length but should have won this race.
